Kiko Does
Kikos
Interesting enough, since we have worked with horses for over fifteen years, but just recently acquired goats, we treat our goats a lot like we do our horses. The Kikos get a lot more hands on work and get tied up to eat, and the Nigerian Dwarfs get handled different too, but this is the Kikos' page so no more about the Nigerians.
My sister, Mandi, is the one in charge of the Kikos. But I'll do my best until she has time to write something up. The Kikos are handled every day to some extent, whether they are intended for show, butcher, or breeding. Yes, I will tell you up front, the goats we sell we know full well they may be going to butcher. That is part of having meat goats. That doesn't mean we won't try harder to get the better does to a home that will take care of them and use them to further the breed.
The picture to the left is of Kapitan, our buck at this point. He has the classic spiral horns of Kikos. Him, the two does pictured above, and two of our other Kiko does are all from Bloom Valley Farm, in Douglas, Kansas. I will put a link to their website on this page so you can look at their stock and the sires of our goats.
I'm going to arrange the list of Kikos the same as the Nigerians but recap: I will put up their pedigree and their barn name. That way, for the same reason, when you talk to either Mandi or I, you'll know who we're referring to if we accidentally slip into the barn names. Or you could just call the goat by the barn name since it will probably be easier than remembering their whole name.
